Job Summary

A Sales Manager is responsible for driving business growth by leading a sales team, achieving revenue targets, developing sales strategies, acquiring new customers, and maintaining relationships with existing clients. The role involves planning, execution, team management, and performance monitoring.


Key Responsibilities

Sales Target Achievement

  • Meet monthly, quarterly, and annual sales targets.
  • Develop strategies to increase sales and revenue.
  • Monitor sales performance and take corrective actions when necessary.

Team Management

  • Lead and supervise sales executives and field staff.
  • Assign sales targets to team members.
  • Conduct regular team meetings and performance reviews.
  • Motivate and mentor the sales team.

Customer Acquisition

  • Identify potential customers and business opportunities.
  • Generate leads through field visits, referrals, and marketing campaigns.
  • Convert prospects into customers.

Customer Relationship Management

  • Build strong relationships with existing customers.
  • Resolve customer issues and concerns promptly.
  • Ensure high customer satisfaction and retention.

Market Analysis

  • Study market trends and competitor activities.
  • Identify new business opportunities.
  • Provide feedback to management regarding market conditions.

Reporting & Documentation

  • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly sales reports.
  • Track sales activities using CRM systems.
  • Maintain customer and sales records.

Daily Activities

A typical workday may include:

  • Reviewing sales performance reports.
  • Conducting team meetings.
  • Visiting clients and prospective customers.
  • Monitoring sales targets.
  • Resolving customer issues.
  • Coordinating with marketing and operations teams.
  • Preparing sales forecasts and reports.

Required Qualifications

Educational Qualification

  • Bachelor’s Degree (B.Com, BBA, BA, B.Sc, B.Tech, MBA preferred)
  • MBA in Marketing is an added advantage.

Experience

  • Typically 2–5 years of sales experience.
  • Prior team-handling experience preferred.
  • Experience in Banking, Finance, Insurance, Retail, Telecom, FMCG, or Real Estate is beneficial.
