Nagarjuna Konda
Nagarjunakonda is one of the most significant archaeological and Buddhist heritage sites in India. Situated on an island in the Krishna River near Nagarjuna Sagar, it flourished as a renowned center of Buddhist education and culture during the 3rd and 4th centuries CE under the Ikshvaku Dynasty. Named after the revered Buddhist philosopher Acharya Nagarjuna, the site is home to the remains of ancient monasteries, stupas, temples, inscriptions, and sculptures. Many of these structures were carefully relocated to higher ground when the Nagarjuna Sagar Dam was constructed, preserving this invaluable heritage for future generations. Kotappakonda (Trikutachalam)
Kotappakonda, also known as Trikutachalam, is one of the most revered pilgrimage destinations in Andhra Pradesh. Located near Narasaraopet in the Palnadu district, this sacred hill is home to the ancient Sri Trikoteswara Swamy Temple, dedicated to Shiva. The temple sits atop a hill with three prominent peaks, which is why it is called Trikutachalam ("the hill of three peaks").
